April Hickey, LPMT, MT-BC (she/they) is the founder of Your Song Music Therapy, LLC.

April received their Music Therapy degree from Eastern Michigan University with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies.

April believes in the innate ability and need for creative expression in all people, as well as music’s power to reach and create space for healing in all people. As a music therapist, April uses music as the basis for wellness work by facilitating music improvisation in an accessible way, aiding creative songwriting, and guiding music discussions.

April takes a person-centered approach to music therapy by celebrating and building on the strengths of individuals while supporting them in achieving wellness goals through music interventions.

April has experience providing music therapy in adult inpatient mental health, forensic psychiatric settings, adult and pediatric physical rehabilitation, children with various needs, and with older adults.
